The first season of Idols premiered on February 24 2002 and continued until June 16 2002. It was won by Heinz Winckler. In the beginning, this season was co-hosted by Candy Litchfield and Matthew Stewardson. However, halfway through the season, Stewardson was axed and replaced by Sami Sabitiin. Soon after that, Stewardson checked himself into a rehab center.
